The first day that you get a fur-child, there is a little voice in the back of your head that reminds you there is an end to the relationship. It's a leap of faith and love to quiet that voice and open your heart. The loss, when it comes, is devastating.

We are honored that donations have been made to The Sanctuary in memory of or in honor of loved ones who have gone to the Bridge. Each fur-child is a gift and will always hold a special place in our hearts. All donations will be used to help another find the love that only a family can give. That is our commitment and tribute to your loved one.

A donation has been made to Jethro's Anipal Sanctuary, Inc. in honor of Clifford LaGow. We honor his memory with this tribute by his dad, Mike.

Clifford

At the age of 15 years and 10 months, Clifford LaGow passed away quietly on Friday, March 26, 2010 after a year long decline in health. At the last, he was attended by his loyal slave, Mike. Besides Mike he is survived by his grandparents as well as multiple loving extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his cousins, the Poodles Who Lie, Sasha and Sienna.

A willing and able hunter, he counted among his trophies, 3 possums, a bird, wolf spiders (OMG he's foaming at the mouth) and multiple near-misses with skwirls and wabbbits. Even greater was his ability to bring countless persons of hooman persuasion to the realization that dachshunds are a unique and wonderful breed of Dog.

Goodnight sweet Prince. And flocks of Angels sing thee to thy rest.

~ Mike, Dad and faithful servant to Clifford

Jake

Jake was our first baby... He was the perfect family dog and respected the children and their toys...always. He was a sociable boy, especially with anyone that would take time to pet him! He was very, very lazy and didn't "retrieve" for diddly squat, but he paid us in full with his love, companionship and loyalty. Jake had some digestive problems, but was fairly stable until the end. He lived a very long full life of 14 1/2 years. He will always hold a very special place in our hearts.

Loki

With heavy heart, we let our girl go today, July 1, 2010. Last night we had a little run around the yard, and for supper she got eggies and tomatoes, and carrots and green beans... She had a terrific life here, and her going to the Bridge leaves a huge hole in our hearts. We love you Loki, forever and always.

Thanksgiving weekend 2009, you came into our lives. A tiny lost soul running scared on a busy street, cold, hungry and with no family looking for you, a mere 12 months old. We looked, and when no family came forward, we knew that you belonged in ours. You settled in quickly with Sarge and Duggie. Sarge let you know right away that he was in charge, and he did his best to keep you in line. It was a tough job, you WERE a terror - not much stayed in its place with you around - we think you found pure joy in moving the dog beds around, flipping them upside down, climbing out of the x-pen, and chewing on way too many things that you shouldn't. You WERE only a puppy of 19 months when you left us, and looking back, we feel blessed that you got to BE a puppy. All you had to do was look at us with those big brown eyes, and we melted. After several long weeks of uncertain internal medical problems, your body just gave out. We loved you with all we had for the short time that you were with us.

Madison

Today our Madison took her last walk. What a brave sweet soul she was all the way to the end. The act of releasing her from her pain of body and pain of mind was surprisingly very peaceful. When we finally left her after a tearful good bye from both of us, she lay as if she were simply taking a well deserved nap.

Never is this step easy but for our little Roo, we'd like to think it was the release she was waiting for. In the past months, she had so much confusion and discontent. Her little legs barely carried her any more. She didn't know her day from her night. She was lost.

Madison

Now she is gone and there is peace all around. Gone but not forgotten. Who could forget the little goof who squeaked for this and squeaked for that? Who was the happiest when her tongue was in third gear licking us silly? Miss Roo, you will be missed. You were one of a kind and won't be forgotten.

Good bye our sweet little Madderoo.
